On Saturday 16 May we welcomed over 20 families at the Holiday Inn Eastleigh, all of whom have children under the care of Southampton General Hospital since the diagnosis of a paediatric brain tumour. The day offered families the chance to meet others in similar situations, hear from healthcare professionals and others affected by a brain tumour, and leave the day feeling more supported by both The Charity and the healthcare team.
Children and young people were entertained throughout the event in the main play room which was run by the Play Leaders from the hospital and all left with a goody bag from the day.
Good to meet up with families from our treatment period and others who have been through the same experience. The event was really useful and informative to fully understand treatment both current and future.
Further feedback from the day:
“Excellent talk on end of life. Relevant for all in dealing with a really difficult subject.”
“We really liked meeting other families affected by a brain tumour and chatting to the team from Southampton Hospital. Oh and of course, catching up with The Brain Tumour Charity.”
“The day filled in a lot of the gaps that we hadn't had the opportunity to ask before.”
“I really enjoyed today. I found it very informative and didn't feel so alone. It was nice to meet new people and catch up with my 'neuro' family.”
